Big Green Egg - Table Nest
The metal table nest ensures good air circulation under the EGG and is now an optional component for all Big Green Egg tables. The table nest is also very useful for custom tables and outdoor kitchens.
CAUTION: The metal table nest must be used with a table or built-in frame. Do not use as a stand-alone stand for your EGG. Do not place the EGG directly on wood or other combustible surfaces!
DO NOT USE THE TABLE NEST TO SUPPORT AN EGG UNLESS THE EGG IS HOUSED IN A TABLE, ISLAND, OR OTHERWISE.
The low-profile tabletop nest is not designed or intended as a freestanding base for your egg. Only the Mini and MiniMax have a low-profile nest designed to be used as a freestanding base.
THE EGG WAS DESIGNED FOR USE IN A METAL NEST OR WITH A METAL TABLE NEST, PROVIDING AN AIR GAP UNDER THE EGG. However, you should exercise caution and not place an EGG directly on any combustible material such as ground cover or an extremely dry wooden surface, even if using a Table Nest.
A concrete paver or granite slab is very often used to support the EGG when used in a table or built-in. If not used in conjunction with a Table Nest, it is recommended that they be stacked at least 3" thick for proper thermal protection.
FOR MAXIMUM THERMAL PROTECTION, IT IS BEST TO USE A COMBINATION OF A GRANITE TILE AND A METAL TABLE NEST, especially if the EGG is regularly used for long cooking or high-temperature cooking and is placed on a wooden surface.
CHECK THE AREA DIRECTLY UNDER THE EGG REGULARLY to ensure that over time there is no deterioration on the surface under the EGG due to heat transfer.
